“My creations are a translation of a message,” says Paris-based designer/director William Ismael. “Sometimes it is purely abstract. Sometimes it is purely visual. Sometimes it’s sprititual and emotional. Sometimes it makes sense. Sometimes it makes no sense at all.” Ismael mixes media – using both digital and analog tools – to create motion, interactive and environmental design. “I make them work together like they are the same blood type.” Ismael was born in Toulon in the south of France and was raised in Paris, Milan, New York, and L.A. Growing up in so many cities tends to confuse some people about Ismael’s nationality and makes him a bit of a global citizen. He speaks French like a Frenchman and English like an American… and he also has multiple degrees: a business degree in International Trade from Santa Monica College and a BFA from Art Center College of Design, where he focused on motion graphics. At the age of 16, Ismael was signed to Warner Bros. France as a recording artist, and he has been recording nonstop internationally with a variety of talented artists. He’s also been a model, appearing in magazines worldwide, including Vogue.
Visual and musical creations are how he breathes. They are “my life,” he says. “My favorite thing to do is to say something through visuals and sound.” Ismael finds motion graphics perfect for blending his two passions. “His international and diverse background make his point of view rich and meaningful,” says his former instructor at Art Center, Petrula Vrontikis. “he has no media boundaries – it’s all about expression through whatever media is required. The messages are strong and well crafted. His musical talent shows in the lyrical way he approaches graphic design problems”. Ismael works in a media-agnostic fashion that pushes the boundaries of graphic design. “William is deeply immersed in contemporary culture, active in the music and street art scenes,” notes Nik Hafermaas, Art Center’s chair of Graphic Design. “he brings is very sophisticated visual style also to socially responsible projets. He has just entered into a working relationship with UNESCO in Paris.” [...]

«Mes créations sont des messages», dit le Graphiste et Réalisateur Motion William Ismael basé à Paris. «Parfois, c’est simplement abstrait. Parfois c’est purement visuel. Parfois c’est spirituel et émotionnel. Parfois c’est logique. Parfois ça n’a pas de sens.» William mélange les médias numériques et analogiques pour créer du graphisme motion, interactif, et environnemental. «Je les fais travailler ensemble comme s’ils avaient le même groupe sanguin.»
William Ismael est né à Toulon et a grandi entre Paris, Milan, New York et Los Angeles. Avoir grandit dans plusieurs villes fait de lui un citoyen mondial: il parle Français comme un Français et Anglais comme un Américain, il a aussi plus d’un diplôme: Business en Commerce International du Santa Monica College et ‘Bachelor of Fine Arts’ du Art Center College of Design où il s’est concentré sur le graphisme motion. À l’age de 16 ans, William Ismael a signé avec Warner Bros,france en tant que rappeur et a depuis enregistré sans cesse avec des artistes talentueux internationaux. Il a aussi été mannequin pour des publications internationales comme Vogue.
Les créations visuelles et musicales «C’est ma vie», dit-il. «Ce que j’aime vraiment faire c’est raconter une histoire à travers le graphisme et le son.» Pour William, le graphisme motion est idéal pour rassembler ses deux passions. «Sa formation internationale et variée lui donne un point de vue riche et significatif», dit son ancien professeur de l’Art Center, Petrula Vrontikis. «Il n’a pas de limites avec les médias différents – le but est l’expression par tous moyens. Les messages sont forts avec une exécution de qualité. Son talent en musique se dévoile poétiquement quand il attaque la compléxité de ses projets.» William travaille de façon agnostique par rapport aux différents médias qu’il utilise – il repousse les limites du graphisme. «William est profondément immergé dans la culture contemporaine, actif dans la scène musicale et dans l’art de rue» dit Nik Hafermaas, le directeur du département Graphisme à Art Center. «Il amène un style visuel très sophistiqué et aussi socialement responsable. Il vient de rentrer dans un partenariat avec l’UNESCO.»
